Daily Fantasy Football – Draftkings Week 4

Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (Heavy Hitters), the average-priced contributors (Average Athletes), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Sneaky Sleepers). Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.

NFL Week 3 Recap

Our lineups were strong in the early games, before losing some ground after the high scoring late games. Overall, we placed in half of our contents and ended up around even for the day. Our Star of the Week, Chris Godwin was in our lineups and although he didn’t disappoint, he also didn’t propel us forward. Godwin has a productive day with 7 receptions, and managed to score a TD on a rushing play, but we were hoping for a couple of scores and 100 yards, and fell short of that target. If you had Matthew Stafford or Kirk Cousins in your lineups, you likely did pretty well, especially if you stacked them with their receivers. Perhaps our most effective position was our defensive selections, all of which put up some really nice fantasy numbers. In looking at how all of our options performed, there was a lot of mediocre play and not enough big statlines.

Who Made Us Look Brilliant?
  • Matthew Stafford – 348 Yards Passing, 4 Total TDs
  • Kirk Cousins – 323 Yards Passing, 3 Total TDs

  • Chris Carson – 82 Yards Rushing, 2 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD

  • Denver Broncos DST – 0 Points Allowed, 2 Interceptions, 5 Sacks
  • New Orleans Saints DST – 13 Points Allowed, 3 Interceptions, 3 Sacks, 1 Total TD

  • Robert Woods – 33 Yards Receiving, 5 Yards Rushing, 0 Total TD
  • A.J. Brown – 3 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
  • Darren Waller – 54 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD

NFL Week 4 Preview

Week four looks to be the week when some of the league’s brightest stars could really shine based on potential matchups. Selecting your quarterback might be the way to go if you have strong feelings regarding one of the big names. Finding the value with sleepers could make or break your weekend, and we’ve got our usual list of players you’ll want to give a look to.

STAR OF THE WEEK:

The Chicago Bears are hoping David Montgomery and the offense can get things going against the Lions

Yes, we are fully aware the Chicago Bears put on one of the worst offensive displays in the modern era a week ago against the Cleveland Browns. No, we’re not overly concerned with that in our selection of this Sunday’s Star of the Week. The Bears are desperate to get something going on offense as head coach Matt Nagy is fighting for his job at this point in the season. Their team was embarrassed as Myles Garrett racked up 4.5 sacks, and rookie quarterback Justin Fields was completely overwhelmed against Cleveland. Things should lighten up a bit against a more forgiving Detroit Lions team, one that just released linebacker Jamie Collins. No matter who is at the helm for the Bears at QB this weekend, the offense is going to have some early heavy doses of Montgomery in an effort to help settle the offensive line and quarterback. Montgomery has been the lone bright spot on the offense and has played well against the Lions in the past. A year ago he averaged over 4.6 yards per tote in their two meetings, caught half a dozen passes, and scored a pair of touchdowns in some high scoring affairs. With a price tag of just $5,800 he’s a player offering tremendous upside this Sunday. With some really appealing higher priced targets at other positions, getting this value with a potential star could really help your lineup thrive in week number four.
