Overview:

Another pretty uneventful week for the BetCrushers last week which is exactly what you’re looking for in a survivor pool. Despite a hard fought effort early in the game, the Chargers ultimately proved too much and Dolphins wilted in the Miami sun. While the Chargers were the highest played team in survivor in week four, there was a small knockout as Tampa was able to beat the Rams in their home stadium. It was estimated about 10% of players used the Rams so it’s possible you have some casualties in your pool.

Strategy / Odds:

There are still some pretty sound options available depending upon who you’ve used thus far in the season. There are three teams with double digits spreads in week five so it isn’t necessary to overthink things just yet in the season. New England again leads the spread party opening as 16 point favorites against the hapless Washington Redskins. Part of the strategy in survivor is looking for something the general consensus may not find, but we’d advise you to stick with the program and roll with one of the big three this week. I mean no one really is going to trust the Bengals or someone like that, are they?

Here is a quick glance at the four largest spreads for the week:
(Bovada Sportsbook 9/30/19)

New England Patriots -16 at Washington Redskins
New York Jets +14 at Philadelphia Eagles
Indianapolis Colts +11 at Kansas City Chiefs
Denver Broncos +6.5 at Los Angeles Chargers

For our money the three large double-digit plus spreads are the only options for this week. Hopefully you’ve got at least one of these available in your pool. The Chargers should be able to take care of business against the Broncos, but they’re so banged up that you just don’t know, particularly with a lack of a big homefield advantage. As previously mentioned, most people, and hopefully you, were able to use them last weekend against the Dolphins anyhow. If you have to look past the Chargers it really becomes slim pickings when you’re trying to find a sure thing.

After being split in the first three weeks of the season, JJ and Yanni are on the same pick again in week five as both are foregoing the Patriots in favor of a slightly lesser favorite. The theory really being that New England gets another match with the Dolphins down the road and the Eagles will have a contest with them as well, and with the Redskins again. After taking a beating at home, the beat up Colts have to go on the road to face a Kansas City offense that was held down (by their standards) in Detroit. We like our chances with Patrick Mahomes and gang this week.
