Daily Fantasy Football – Draftkings Week 3

Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (High-Priced Heroes), the average-priced contributors (He’s so “Mid”), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Bargain Basement). Yes, for our longtime readers, we did change the titles of our tiers. Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.

NFL Week 2 Recap

Week number two was darn good for the BetCrushers in Daily Fantasy as our staple players in our lineups put up some great weeks. It all started with our Star of the Week, Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who did exactly what we had hoped against the Seahawks at their home opener. Stacking him with Josh Reynolds gave us two affordable options who put up superstar-like numbers. Our quarterbacks were all money as every tier really produced and outplayed their respective price tag. (Even Baker Mayfield). There were a couple of swing and misses, mainly in the Chiefs and Jaguars game, which kept us from a dominant weekend. Overall, things worked out well and we picked up a solid percentage ROI in week two.

These Players Made Us Look Good:

Jared Goff – 323 Yards Passing, 3 Total TDs
Geno Smith – 328 Yards Passing, 20 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
Justin Herbert – 305 Yards Passing, 2 Total TDs
Daniel Jones – 321 Yards Passing, 59 Yards Rushing, 3 Total TDs
Jordan Love – 151 Yards Passing, 23 Yards Rushing, 3 Total TDs
Baker Mayfield – 317 Yards Passing, 17 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
Jordan Love – 245 Yards Passing, 12 Yards Rushing, 3 Total TDs

Bijan Robinson – 124 Yards Rushing 48 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
James Conner – 106 Yards Rushing, 1 Total TD
Rachaad White – 73 Yards Rushing, 30 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD
David Montgomery – 67 Yards Rushing, 7 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD
Josh Reynolds – 66 Yards Receiving, 2 Total TDs
Tampa Bay DST – 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 Total TD

These Players Made Us Look Foolish:

Calvin Ridley – 32 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
Travis Etienne – 40 Yards Rushing, 2 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
Brandon Auyik – 43 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD

NFL Week 3 Preview

Week three may be a little tough at first glance at a couple of positions, for two very different reasons. At the quarterback spot, there are quite frankly too many really good options to pick from. At the running back position, there simply there simply are not. Figuring out which quarterback you like, and which running backs can get it done is going to be crucial to the weekend’s success. Injuries now also become key to evaluate, as there are potential opportunities to find some low-priced players at very affordable prices.

Before we highlight our three levels of talent, let’s look at our projected star of the week:

STAR OF THE WEEK:

Running back Kenneth Walker III could be a busy man against the Panthers

Let’s start out by saying our favorite player this week is actually Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. However, because there are several quarterback options available, we’re going to take a little bit more of a gamble and go with Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III. The young back was able to punch a couple of TDs in against the Lions, but was really held in check from a yardage production standpoint. Even though their opponent this weekend, the Carolina Panthers, have been pretty strong on defense, we’re expecting a strong day for Walker. Despite some expected potential competition in the Seattle backfield, Walker is the clear lead runner and has averaged 15 carries per game and a few targets to go with it. The game script is one of the big reasons we like Walker here, as the Seahawks figure to be winning in a home matchup against an inferior team. In their first two contests, the Panthers allowed multiple rushing touchdowns in the second half after falling behind. This has similar makings as Carolina will likely struggle to score in this matchup. Walker should get 20 carries and find the end zone at least one time, and since we’re giving him a shot as his star, hopefully a second time again on Sunday.
