Things are really heating up in the NASCAR Cup Series! Episode 8 of the Playing the Odds NASCAR Style podcast takes you to Bristol Motor Speedway for the 2021 Food City Dirt Race. As always, Paul and JJ discuss the Atlanta race, where Kyle Larson dominated the field…until the very end when Ryan Blaney snatched the checkered flag for his first win of the season. The guys talk about who has looked good so far in the 2021 season and who has not. What do we make of Stewart Haas Racing’s early season struggles? And will Hendrick Motorsports repeat as Cup Series Champions?

What’s the Deal With the 2021 Food City Bristol Dirt Race?

  • What did it take to build a removable dirt surface?
  • What happens if it keeps raining through the weekend?
  • How are 40 cars sliding around going to fit on the track?
  • Who has the dirt track experience that will pay off on Sunday?
  • How steep is the learning curve for the non-dirt guys?

Our Best Bets At Bristol?

This is the wildest of wild card races! And with that, we are going to kick back and relax while watching the Food City Dirt Race – without any bets in hand at this point. If there’s a matchup that both us may end up playing, it’s Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. -115 over Chase Elliott.

Next weekend is an off week for the Cup Series, so we’ll be back and ready to roll the following week for 500 laps at Martinsville Speedway!
