Daily Fantasy Football – Draftkings Week 5

Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (Heavy Hitters), the average-priced contributors (Average Athletes), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Sneaky Sleepers). Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.

NFL Week 4 Recap

A nice rebound weekend for the BetCrushers as our lineups where chalk full of of Lions and Seahawks. Our largest regret is that we lightened up on our Jared Goff rosters due to the missing some key playmakers. Jamaal Williams and T.J. Hockenson more than picked up the slack, and our lineups that featured all three along with Rashaad Penny brought some nice cash, even in some situations where we had some lighter performers. It always feels good when the Star of the Week performs at a really high level, especially as QB1. Take a glance here at who else helped us out, and who dropped the ball literally, and figuratively below.

These Players Made Us Look Good:

Jared Goff – 378 Yards Passing, 1 Yard Rushing, 4 Total TDs
Rashaad Penny – 151 Yards Rushing, 6 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
T.J. Hockenson – 179 Yards Receiving, 2 Total TDs
Austin Ekeler – 60 Yards Rushing, 49 Yards Receiving, 3 Total TDs
Dameon Pierce – 131 Yards Rushing, 8 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD

Jamaal Williams – 108 Yards Rushing, 1 Yard Receiving, 2 Total TDs

These Players Made Us Look Foolish:

Carson Wentz – 170 Yards Passing, 1 Total TD
Amari Cooper – 9 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
Michael Carter – 15 Yards Rushing, 14 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD

NFL Week 5 Preview

This week’s card offers a lot to be excited about with the mid-tier players, and specifically our Star of the Week. There are going to be some higher than usual scoring lineups because of the potential of lower priced players having big games this weekend. One thing you’ll notice is the familiar duo of quarterbacks at the top of the list. While there is clearly some great value down the line, it might be a week where it’s tough to overcome the potential onslaught of points if you want to roll with Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts. It’s also a good time to point out that this might be the weekend to invest in defense as the Bills have a matchup against rookie Kenny Pickett, and the 49ers have get to face off against Baker Mayfield. Whoever you decide to play this weekend, just know we’re planning on winning!

Before we highlight our three levels of talent, let’s look at our projected star of the week:

STAR OF THE WEEK:

James Robinson – Jacksonville Jaguars

After splashing onto the fantasy scene as a rookie, injuries, and the drafting of first round RB Travis Etienne muddied the future of Jaguars running back James Robinson. New head coach Doug Pederson recognized what he has in Robinson, and has found a way to utilize both he and Etienne effectively. Robinson had a rough outing in what was a difficult matchup last week against the Eagles, however there is some light on the horizon for the powerful back. Robinson and the Jags face the Texans in a home matchup in which they are somewhat surprisingly touchdown favorites. Houston has been dead last through four games at stopping the run and allowing fantasy points to opposing running backs. We’re expecting a lot of carries for James Robinson, and anything less than 100 yards and one score at a minimum would be considered a disappointing weekend. We’re crafting our lineups around him in week five.
