Daily Fantasy Football – Draftkings Week 4

Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (Heavy Hitters), the average-priced contributors (Average Athletes), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Sneaky Sleepers). Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.

NFL Week 3 Recap

Who Made Us Look Brilliant?

Another nice DFS weekend as we won some money and hope that you do as well. We built our lineups around our star of the week Dalvin Cook and he produced with 200 yards and a touchdown. We discussed how your best bet was loading up on Seahawks and Cowboys and safe to say if you did that you were probably into the money. Realistically, almost all of our targeted big dollar players came through and we had some successes in both our second and third tiers. Here’s a closer look at some of our suggestions who came through in week three:

  • Dalvin Cook – 181 Yards Rushing, 18 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD
  • Russell Wilson – 315 Yards Passing, 22 Yards Rushing, 5 Total TDs
  • Dak Prescott – 472 Yards Passing, 26 Yards Rushing, 3 Total TDs
  • Austin Ekeler – 59 Yards Rushing, 84 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD
  • Robert Woods – 74 Yards Receiving, 30 Yards Rushing, 1 Total TD
  • Joe Burrow – 312 Yards Passing, 2 Total TDs
  • Indianapolis Colts DST – 7 points allowed, 2 Total TDs, 1 Safety
  • Allen Robinson II – 123 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD
  • Jimmy Graham – 60 Yards Receiving, 2 Total TDs
Who Made Us Look Foolish?

It wasn’t entirely shocking that a potential sleeper like Peyton Barber wouldn’t contribute as that’s always a chance you take with a low-priced time share running back. It was the very mild performances of wide receivers Adam Thielen and Davante Adams, neither of which eclipsed 40 yards or get in the endzone that were big misses for us.

  • Mitchell Trubisky – 128 Yards Passing, 45 Yards Rushing, 1 Total TD, 1 INT
  • Drew Sample – 1 Yard Receiving, 0 Total TD
  • Kenyan Drake – 73 Yards Rushing, 7 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD

NFL Week 4

STAR OF THE WEEK:

The Rams lost a heartbreaker after battling all the way back from a 25 point deficit in the third quarter to the Bills. Lost in that was the fact that their offense racked up a ton of yards and Jared Goff played well again in defeat. After back to back east coast trips the Rams get to return to LA and face a struggling New York Giants team that was just torched by Nick Mullens and some wide receivers most people have never heard of. Goff should be in for a big day in what figures to be a bounce back win for the Rams.

There are some potentially lopsided matchups in the Sunday afternoon windows so you can figure on most DFS players targeting many of the same options. Look at those high projected scoring total games and that should be your roadmap on where to start. How can we not go back to looking at this Seattle Seahawks offense? Russell Wilson is playing at one of the highest levels we’ve ever witnessed and a matchup against the Dolphins should allow them to continue their torrid pace. It’s always critical to find some lower priced guys, but this week more than normal, it’s likely if you don’t nail these, you won’t win. Here’s to hoping we found some good ones for you, and for us!
