Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (High-Priced Heroes), the average-priced contributors (He’s so “Mid”), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Bargain Basement). Yes, for our longtime readers, we did change the titles of our tiers. Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.
NFL Week 1
A full slate of games in week one include some potential shootouts and teams showcasing newly acquired talent give us a lengthy roster to explore. If you happened to read our offseason article of players we feel can help you win in fantasy football, you’ll find some common selections during the early weeks of the season, including week number one. Before we highlight our three levels of talent, let’s look at our projected star of the week:
STAR OF THE WEEK:
You know that old saying “Go big or go home?”. That’s pretty relevant with Daily Fantasy Football and we’re absolutely swinging for the fences with our week number one star of the week. There are a lot of potential stars for week one, but we’re rolling the dice with Commanders new starting quarterback Sam Howell against the Arizona Cardinals. In reality this selection has as much to do with the team from Arizona as it does with Howell himself as QB. The Cardinals defense looks pretty atrocious at least on paper, including a very likely lack of a pass rush. When you couple that with the nice camp and preseason Howell put together, and the numerous weapons on the Washington offense, he’s worth a shot in week one. For starters, his salary of $4,900 is $3,000 less than the top QBs of the week and comparable to backups who won’t even play in most cases. Howell is one of the riskier Star of the Week’s we’ve publicly played, but hey, that’s the beauty of DFS. We’re going to stack him up and add some high-priced talent around him.
