JJ – Status – Alive (0 misses)
Teams Used:
YANNI
Baltimore Ravens
Carolina Panthers
Green Bay Packers
JJ
Philadelphia Eagles
Baltimore Ravens
Dallas Cowboys
Overview:
Our week three picks were pretty safe from start to finish so not a lot of drama in our Survivor world, which is kind of the way you want it if you’re betting. JJ remains alive after using a strong Dallas team while Yanni rebounded using a Green Bay team that may be tough to trust down the road in a strong division. Globally not a lot of knockouts last week as the heavily selected teams held serve.
Strategy / Odds:
The upcoming slate of games features the usual ridiculous spread concerning the Miami Dolphins as it’s become pretty apparent that most fan’s survivor strategies revolve around picking the Dolphin’s opponent. We certainly can’t argue with that, although it’s likely they will steal a win somewhere along the way, no matter how helpless they are as a team. The next largest spread is with Tampa traveling across the country to play a Rams in a game that figures to be a bit of a shootout. There are a few games that are around a touchdown margin if you’re brave enough to give them a shot.
Here is a quick glance at the four largest spreads for the week:
(Bovada Sportsbook 9/25/19)
Los Angeles Chargers -16 at Miami Dolphins
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +10 at Los Angeles Rams
New England Patriots -7.5 at Buffalo Bills
Oakland Raiders +7 at Indianapolis Colts
Even though the Rams and quarterback Jared Goff are much better at home they’re hosting a team that has played pretty well so far this season and has a quarterback that has the ability to throw five touchdowns on occasion. JJ likes the Colts chances at home against the Raiders in a spot that would be nice to use Indy, but the news that T.Y. Hilton and Darius Leonard are questionable is concerning when you are looking for a sure thing.
Yanni got back on track in week three and despite his early bust is still looking to finish the season strong. The only wild shot he considered was taking the Steelers in the Monday night game against the rival Bengals as each team looks for their first win. Pittsburgh owns the Bengals and in a last ditch effort to salvage their season they’ll have the Heinz Field crowd rocking. That being said, using an 0-3 team with a backup quarterback in a divisional game is just a little too far out on the limb. This one was one of the quicker weeks for survivor selection and for the first time this season the BetCrushers have a consensus play. Will the Dolphins win a game this season??
