Week 1 Preview:

The 2025 NFL season kicked off with a pair of games before the rest of the league gets going this Sunday. Sportsbooks are taking in record handles as the amount of options and opportunities for sports bettors are at an all-time high. As books have adapted how they accept bets and assign juice, the value with player prop bets has often trumped traditional against the spread and over/under lines. The BetCrushers Prop Corner continues to be a cornerstone for our overall betting portfolio. Week one is probably the trickiest week to find player props due to a lot of uncertainties without sample sizes. For example, Trayveon Henderson looks like he has a great opportunity to crush his yardage total. But will he see enough work? Our plan for opening weekend? Play a few guys we feel will have nice games and take their overs. In this case, we’ve got our first ever slate without a QB/RB/WR as we’re going all in on the tight ends. Tight End University would be proud. We opted to dip our toe in to start the season, with a lot more fun and action on the way in the upcoming weeks.

Our Picks:

David Njoku – Over 47.5 Yards Receiving (-115)

Browns tight end David Njoku has been productive when healthy

The Cleveland Browns open their season with a visit from their in-state rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that “overs” should be popular in any game involving the Bengals, as they should be scoring a lot, and giving up a lot on defense. It’s not just the swiss-cheese defense of the Bengals that has us interested in Browns tight end David Njoku, but also the man tossing him the football. Joe Flacco gets the nod in week one for a Browns team that could end up playing musical chairs at the quarterback position. As long as Flacco is behind center, Njoku should reap the benefits of the veteran quarterback, who he’s shown previous success with when healthy. Back to the matchup, last year Njoku went for 76 and 66 yards, respectively against Cincinnati, and had 24 targets between the two games. With some question marks around the Browns running game, and a possibility of a high-scoring tilt, we like this spot for Njoku to cover.

Kyle Pitts, Sr. – Over 38.5 Yards Receiving (-115)

Is 2025 the year Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts finally dominates?

Throughout his NFL career, Kyle Pitts, Sr. has performed below average to his fellow tight ends across the league. He’s done “ok”, but that isn’t acceptable when you were picked in the draft with the intention of dominating at the position. We’re not going to jump on the bandwagon of this being his year to shine, but we will back him in week one against the Buccaneers. Over the past five seasons, the Buccaneers have been one of the tougher teams to run against, but one of the easier teams to throw on. Their pass rush of late has been inconsistent, and their secondary simply isn’t that great. Pitts should be able to take advantage of this matchup, as he did a season ago. Pitts had his two most productive games of the 2024 season against the Buccaneers, going over double of what Sunday’s yardage total is set for in both. Second year quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. has stated publicly he likes looking in Pitts direction and wants to give him a chance to make plays. In another game that could have a lot of points, this is one week where backing Pitts is worth the wager.

Tyler Warren – Over 34.5 Yards Receiving (-110)

Rookie Tyler Warren should play a pivotal role in the Colts offense

We mentioned it can be a little scary backing players who are unknown, yet here we are going all-in with Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren. The Penn State product set NCAA records, and enters the league with expectations not far off of previously mentioned Kyle Pitts. Warren enters the game with a manageable 34.5 yards as hit over/under total. During the preseason, Warren looked smooth and calm in limited action and showed why his ability to block, catch and run, made him a first round talent. The Colts do have other weapons on the offense, but none that have completely stood out as a player that would eat up all of the target share. With Daniel Jones getting the start, he is likely to play a bit in “safe mode”, meaning he won’t want to force things down the field that aren’t there. Those end up being good situations for running backs and tight ends to play in. Throw in the fact that the Miami Dolphins secondary isn’t all that fantastic on paper, and Warren should find some space to operate. This one is a little risky for sure, but there’s a chance that after week one, his totals are in the 40’s, so we’ll fire off an opening weekend bet with him.
