Daily fantasy football continues to climb in popularity as jackpots have risen consistently and more fans are joining sites every week. Our weekly article showcases players to target at three general levels of value: The big dollar talent (Heavy Hitters), the average-priced contributors (Average Athletes), and the guys very questionable players at the bottom of the cost charts (Sneaky Sleepers). Our selected players are based on DraftKings values as that is our daily fantasy site of choice, but the values should translate fairly well to any other sites you may use. We don’t share specific lineups or optimized computer rankings, but we will give you some great candidates for you to consider. We set this breakdown up that way because while winning is great, a big part of the fun draw of daily fantasy is mixing and matching your lineups to see how you can maximize your team. That and the fact that we are trying to win the same way that you are, and quite frankly, we don’t want our readers to all have the same exact lineups.
NFL Week 7 Recap
Woooo to the hooo! Week 7 was our best week thus far in the 2022 season of DFS as our lineups returned a ton of profit. It all started with our Star of the Week, Kenneth Walker III, who finished with 168 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns in the Seahawks upset in Los Angeles. With Walker in the lineup, and backs like Josh Jacobs, points were plentiful. Even Ezekiel Elliott pitched in on a rare spot where we had him playing. There were a couple of notable whiffs, but fortunately we weren’t spending our money on tights like Mark Andrews who had a rare miss. Take a look at some of the statistics that helped us win below.
These Players Made Us Look Good:
Kenneth Walker II – 168 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
Josh Jacobs – 143 Yards Rushing, 12 Yards Receiving, 2 Total TDs
Ezekiel Elliot – 57 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
Travis Etienne, Jr. – 114 Yards Rushing, 5 Yards Receiving, 1 Total TD, 1 2pt.
Derrick Henry – 128 Yards Rushing, 10 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TDs
Saquon Barkley – 110 Yards Rushing, 25 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TDs
Jimmy Garoppolo – 303 Yards Passing, 2 Yards Rushing, 2 Total TDs
Tennessee Titans DST – 10 points allowed, 3 turnovers, 1 Total TD
These Players Made Us Look Foolish:
Mark Andrews – 0 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
Michael Gallup – 0 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
Kenyan Drake – 5 Yards Rushing, 0 Yards Receiving, 0 Total TD
NFL Week 8 Preview
As tempting as it is to grab one of the elite quarterbacks, that’s simply not going to be our philosophy in week eight. For the first time this season, the studs at the top of the list at running back and wide receiver all have some great matchups. It’s going to require really grabbing the right lower salaried quarterback, and probably at least one sleeper, but you’ve simply got to find a way to get guys like Derrick Henry, Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill into your lineups Sunday. That makes this week challenging for sure, so do your homework, pick off those players who may get some unexpected touches and good luck!
Before we highlight our three levels of talent, let’s look at our projected star of the week:
STAR OF THE WEEK:
We’ve targeted the high $5,000 mark with running backs the past two, weeks selecting Rhamondre Stevenson and Kenneth Walker III as our Star of the Week, with great results. Sticking with that price point and running back we’ll hope to score a turkey and make it three in a row in week number eight as we’re locked in on Raheem Mostert. The offense for the Miami Dolphins has sputtered a bit, however a date with the Detroit Lions could be just what’s needed to get some of their spark back. Sometimes lost with the sizzle and speed of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle is the fact that Raheem Mostert is just as fast and can be even more effective when given the opportunity. You can’t ask for a better matchup than he has against the Lions, a team that is 30th in YPC allowed, 28th in yards, and has given up the 2nd most touchdowns in the league on the ground. Mostert has wrestled away most of the carries from Chase Edmonds, and after playing arguably the best game on the Dolphins offense last Sunday night, he should continue to be more involved. The fast track indoors is perfect for a player like Mostert to shine, and we’re expecting at least 100 yards and a touchdown as a floor for his production this week.
